Back from that Short Break to…Venice
Genius Loci has had an intensely busy season – its sixth year and its best. With our busy grape harvest period over, free for a few days from my cooking classes, gourmet wine and olive oil tastings and wineries tours, with ideal weather … literally overnight, we put together a short break. Where to for a change of scenery and pace? Venice – with an emphasis on its Lagoon islands.
amazing reflections on a canal in magnificent Burano
stark contrast of color, material, period and texture – a beautiful weathered statue in Torcello
exquisite hand-blown glass ducks welcoming visitors to Murano
a proud seagull on the Canal Grande
remarkable stonework – Murano
my only “stolen” shot in the Byzantine Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Torcello
the sun sets on the Canal Grande
…to be continued with more photos of magnificent Venice and its Lagoon islands

So beautiful, my friend. Seeing your beautiful pictures remind us of our trip almost a year ago (time does race by), So glad you were able to get away and enjoy a short break.
Hi Michelle (and Dan), As always thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. It has been 45 years of Venice with over 15 trips but it never gets “old” or “the same”. There is ALWAYS a new area, corner, “scorcio” or flavor to discover… along with the joy of visiting – yet once again – the familiar. Sublime magical, almost unreal in its atmosphere. Love to my dear friends.
So glad you were able to take a mini vacation, have some time to see the lovely sights. What wonderful sights you have so close by. Thanks for sharing some photos! All the best, J
Thanks, Jessi. We had perfect weather to boot! With the fast trains it really is a quick trip. Love, Mary

Hi Sandra, Loved the Lagoon and the magnificent churches we visited. You would enjoy them so much!
