Today’s Pick of Tomatoes and Flowers

Can you smell “the scents from heaven” of freshly picked basil, our own garlic and our sweet/ripe thin-skinned tomatoes as they unhurriedly bubble together on the stove to become pappa al pomodoro for dinner tonight?

Behind (because I don’t find the tall plants attractive) the house above, I planted six dahlias for cut flowers in the colors most suited to grace the various areas of Genius Loci  and our house.  I love these flowers with my Brozzetti handwoven runner in these amazing colors.  Marta’s inspired and creative work is beyond remarkable and transforms even the most humble abode into a reggia.

One of my favorite, climbing roses, New Dawn, a delicately hued, heavenly scented and copiously blooming floribunda varietal.
